united airlines

A confident, bold new look for United Airlines was designed to help the airline forge an emotional connection with its most valued customers -- frequent business travelers.

The new livery represents United’s commitment to invest in its mainline business and strengthen connections with its core business customers.  With United’s mainline, United Express, Ted and Star Alliance, United now has a strong portfolio of products under the United brand, providing the flexibility needed to anticipate and respond to market demand.

The new look is consistent across United, from its planes to check-In terminals, print, web site etc.  Aircraft with the new livery have a dark blue belly, a bright white top, and large, bold ‘United’ lettering printed on the front.

This dark stealth-like look was seen since the mid 90s. The subtle follow-through of the 70s red, orange and blue cheat line can be seen in the form of a very thin tri-colour line between the grey top and the blue under-belly.

The very recognizable ‘U’ symbol was introduced along with this livery in the mid 70s.
